Bio

Midwest based blues rocker AJ McCausland has returned to his guitar playing roots with catchy, focused songwriting based around a barrage of six-string riffs and funky grooves. Drawing upon the influences of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters and Jimi Hendrix as well as a little Southern Louisiana seasoning thrown in a la The Meters and Tab Benoit, AJ is serving up his original blues tunes while paying homage to his musical heroes.

When he first picked up the guitar at age 13 it was the height of grunge and alternative rock. At the suggestion of a record store clerk, one day his mother brought home a copy of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s In The Beginning and a bootlegged live import CD and the blues took hold. He delved into Hendrix and Clapton as well as the Chess Records catalog featured on a Willie Dixon box set. While the influences grew and styles changed the blues was set as the foundation.

Having performed extensively in Wichita and the Midwest over the course of two decades AJ’s sound has morphed from acoustic jam rock into an all-out electrified firestorm. While AJ’s first release Be Here had hints of a blues undertone layered within folk rock this next chapter brings the blues to the forefront.
